Reclaimed Timbers

Everything old is new again

Reclaimed greenheart, along with several other tropical hardwoods, was used by the NYC Parks Department beginning in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s as the preferred wood for the NYC boardwalks, stretching several miles from the tip of Rockaway all the way up Coney Island. The rooftop terraces at St. John’s Terminal feature local wood reclaimed from the Coney Island boardwalk following Superstorm Sandy. The reclaimed wood can be seen in decking, benches, and tables.
